What is EFT?

EFT is a safe, easy, non-invasive, pain free technique that involves tapping on  various meridian points on the body. Originating from the study of Chinese medicine,  the benefits of EFT were first discovered by a man named Roger Callahan in the early 1990’s when working with a woman with a phobia of water he attempted to relieve her symptoms using tapping on meridian points on the body. To his surprise, the technique was successful and this began Dr. Callahan’s study of Thought Field Therapy.

Over the last 18 years due to the work of a man named Gary Craig the practice has developed and been used successfully with thousands of cases and is known as the present day Emotional Freedom Technique.

EFT is a powerful healing technique which has been shown to be capable of relieving not only the pain from psychological issues but also physical pain.  The main theory behind this practice is that:

“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system”.

EFT works by tapping with the fingertips on various body locations.  This tapping serves to balance energy meridians which become disrupted when the client thinks about or becomes involved in an emotionally disturbing circumstance. The actual memory stays the same, but the charge is gone.  Typically this result is lasting. The client’s thinking often changes in a healthy direction as a natural consequence of the healing.

“ I love this technique because the results are amazing. No more long drawn out counseling. People want results and I find that the results are immediate and long-lasting. I have worked with individuals suffering from depression, repetitive thoughts, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, addictions, obsessions, hoarding behavior, and more.  This technique also helps my patients to be independent of me as they learn the technique and are able to use it themselves to get relief from symptoms”.  Monica Grey L.C.S.W., L.M.T.
